WHERE IS SAUNAPOP?
SaunaPop is based in the gardens of PK Porthcurno Museum of Global Communications at Eastern House, Porthcurno, Penzance, Cornwall, TR19 6JX.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO SAUNAPOP?
2 towels (1 to sit on in the sauna, 1 to dry off).
Swimwear (whatever you feel comfortable in).
Flip-flops, sandals or sliders (optional).
A water bottle (we have drinking water).

HOW LONG IS A SESSION?
Each booking allows you to use the sauna & plunge pools for up to an hour (we recommend you arrive c10 minutes early to get changed). After that, you are welcome to stay & relax in the garden for as long as you like. There really is no rush.

WHAT IS OUR ECO-SAUNA TENT LIKE?
Honestly, it’s lovely. Peaceful, comfortable, cosy, with the crackle of a wood-fire, surrounded by friends long & new, within a beautiful garden. Our PortaSauna KabinXL reaches 80-100C in an hour, then retains that lovely heat for as long we take care of the gentle flames with our ecologs.

We’ve added a few special touches (like decent flooring & custom benches) that help to make the sauna feel even more functional & luxurious. If you’re worried about things like ventilation or off-gassing, please rest assured that safety is absolutely key for us & the tent passes all those tests with flying colours.

DO YOU HAVE COLD PLUNGES?
Yes! We have 2 Kove Design cold plunge baths. 1 chilled to c6C, the other a bit less baltic. Both a triple filtered, with particulate, UV & ozone filtration. They’re an integral part of our contrast therapy offering - though you don’t have to use them if they’re not your thing.

ARE SHOWERS AVAILABLE?
Yes, cooling showers are part of the package. Please shower before each use of the plunge pools.

IS SAUNAPOP WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?
We really hope so! It’s important to us that anyone who might enjoy sauna is able to use our spaces. Access to the whole site & the sauna itself is step free. The sauna tent has a wide door that accommodates most wheelchairs. We can move the benches to make room or do our best to help you to & from a bench if you’d rather not take your wheelchair into the sauna. Showers should be do-able but the cold plunge might be more of a challenge, depending on mobility. For visitors arriving by car, accessible parking spaces can be found in the main Porthcurno car parks below the museum (unfortunately payment is required).

We’re always ready to learn so please give us a head’s up before you’re visiting to discuss how best we can help - hi@saunapop.co.uk

DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS/CARER TICKETS?
Yes. If you need a carer to help facilitate your sauna, then please contact us & we’ll issue a free ticket.
We offer reduced rate tickets for Blue Light card holders & under 21 year olds. Please email & we’ll send you a discount code to apply when you book - hi@saunapop.co.uk.

WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO IN PORTHCURNO?
SaunaPop is grateful to be hosted by PK Porthcurno Museum of Global Communications. This wonderful museum invites visitors to explore the amazing story of our connected world & how the tranquil valley of Porthcurno, Cornwall became host to the past, present & future of worldwide communications. https://pkporthcurno.com

We are a short stroll from the golden sands & turquoise waters of Porthcurno beach, cared for by the National Trust & overseen by RNLI lifeguards (during summer only) www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/cornwall/porthcurno

The world famous Minack Theatre is a unique open air arena overlooking the spectacular panorama of Porthcurno Bay, seemingly carved by ancient Greeks into the rugged granite cliff. Make a day of it with sauna & a show?!
https://minack.com

IS THERE PARKING AT PORTHCURNO?
Yes, lots! There is a large car park right by our location in the gardens of PK Porthcurno Museum. Please be aware, though, that the car park can get very busy, especially in the afternoons. So we have a very limited number of parking spaces that are exclusively for use of SaunaPop@PKcornwall visitors. These can be booked for up to 2 hours on the booking form.

WHAT ABOUT PUBLIC TRANSPORT?
You’re in luck! The 1 & 1a buses come right to our metaphorical doorstep, approximately every 2 hours, from Penzance/Newlyn & Land’s End/Sennen. Penzance enjoys regular nationwide FlixBus coaches & GWR trains.

See timetable for details. www.transportforcornwall.co.uk/services/TFCN/1A

DO YOU HAVE CHANGING ROOMS?
Yes, we have individual changing cabins & lockers to stash your stuff.

WHAT ABOUT TOILETS?
There are public toilets just a few yards away in the PK Porthcurno car park, or inside the museum for ticketholders. We recommend that you pop to the loo before joining us in SaunaPop.

ARE REFRESHMENTS AVAILABLE?
Drinking water is available in the garden & there are multiple outlets in the valley, from the excellent museum cafe to KoffiPK van in the car park (to whom we are eternally grateful). We don’t cater for food at the moment but do recommend the museum cafe along with the excellent Pizza Fuori & Nauti Boys burger vans who grace the car park.

ARE WE PET FRIENDLY?
Our rescue Ibizan Hound, Monte, loves to lounge in our home sauna at 80+degrees. However, we want SaunaPop to be as relaxing as possible so we ask that animals don’t join us in the garden spa area.

IS CLOTHING OPTIONAL?
We currently ask that you keep your swimmer bottoms on, although we may offer naturist sessions at a later date (please let us know if this is something you would be interested).

WHAT HAPPENS IN BAD WEATHER?
Bad weather? During a Cornish summer? How very dare you!

However… One of my best sauna memories was at an apocalyptically wet Glastonbury Festival. Whilst everyone else battled the mud, a few of us stripped off and happily huddled within the warmth of a cosy sauna yurt for hours.

So, if it does rain, then I reckon SaunaPop is a brilliant place to be. If high winds are forecast though, we may need to take down the sauna tent, in which case all bookings would refunded in full.

CAN I CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE?
Yes. It’s easy to do so yourself on our website, just so long as it’s at least 24 hours in advance.
